our rom

we started planning our rom way back in Jan 2008. we have fixed our rom day on 14 Sep 2008, which falls on the lantern festival day. it just happened to strike my mind that this day will be it. i told sy that it will be nice that every lantern festival will just remind us of the day i became a mrs. with the consensus of both side of parents, we went ahead and confirmed on this day.

we held our rom ceremony at Amara Hotel with the witness of our family and our close friends. both of us was really excited & nervous on that day. sy was "dragging" me in during the march-in! =X he's more nervous than me loh.. haha.. below are some of the pictures..

a short & simple ceremony, a lifetime commitment. from this day onwards, i became the wife of him, officially mrs tan. =)

the proposal

yes, he did it. =)

it all begins with fetching me from work. down all the way to safra mount faber for a feast of japanese buffet..hmm.. yummy for the fried oysters.. just a bite and the juice oOozed out immediately!

after dinner, he suggested to drive up to mount faber, giving all sorts of reasons like "first time driving it up..", "since we are already around the area..", "we had a heavy dinner, should walk around before sending you home to sleep, you are getting fatter..blah".. hmm, i sensed something is fishy!

reached the peak, parked his car and when i was about to get out of the car, he said "wait! give me a second" he went to his boot, obviously planning his surprise while i waited patiently in the car till he said ok, and allow to let me out.

while walking up to him behind the car, i heard a lady behind saying "wow!’. curious den, dunno why she was making such comment.

i dropped my jaws, eyes litted up & feeling super touched. i saw a hugh bouquet of red roses! and guess what?! 99 roses! my silly boy bought 99 roses for me! hey, though its not 999 roses, but 99 roses sure not a small bouquet ok.. its heavy! i was very very touched at that moment (the fact that he never believes in giving flowers, coz he thinks its a waste of money..saying he rather get something else for me..). i was really caught in surprise!

haha. no, big bouquet of roses doesnt end there. In his boot, he laid a beautiful small pillow with display of my ring, a card & 2 credit cards. yes, that’s his proposal.. i was almost speechless.
"here 99 roses?!"
"yes, lucky its only 99 roses. its already so huge. i cant imagine if i buy 999 roses.. how am i suppose to hide it in my car?"
"you sure giving my 2 credit cards? rightfully mine?"
"yes, but you cannot anyhow swipe eh.."

he knelt and proposed.
(forgot to mention, the car behind us, before driving away, the driver winded down his window & gave a tumbs up sign, saying BRAVO!)

so, that was it. the proposal =)

the starting point

we were first introduced verbally by our mutual friend, derrick to know the exsitence of both of us. back then, "friendster" was the "in thing". so, sy took the initiative to locate "xinyi" in derrick's contact list. he dropped me a message, introducing himself and also not forgetting the most important thing in this message - his MSN address. haha

i was rather surprised when i saw sy's message. back of my mind, i was thinking "Wow, this guy's reaction quite fast eh?" (coz it was only like few days back when derrick mentioned about this "potential" guy to me!) of coz' the most immediate reaction next was to browse into his profile, his testimonials from his friends & photos.. at least i need to know abit about him before i add him in my msn. after a quick browsing through of his profile, i "passed" him & added him on my msn.

we began to chat in msn to know each other better before the first meet-up with our "mei-po" as well at causeway point, carona chicken..

well, both of us was not those "love at first sight". his impression of me - "a young petite(SHORT) girl", my impression of him - "TALL decent looking guy"

soon after the first meet-up, the frequency & time spent on MSN-ing increases... and the rest are history.... finally, we started OUR JOURNEY on 21 Jan 2006.
